A strange behavior reported by one user. I tried Googling it but not sure what terms to use. We have Exchange 2010 and the user in question works in the office and connects via local LAN.

Here is what the user has to say:

"I’ve noticed an issue with my email lately, where I haven’t been receiving emails, but if I search I can see the email in my inbox in the history and it is marked as unread. 

So for example, a sender followed up with me as I wasn’t replying to their emails. When I searched I did find the emails they sent, however I never saw them when they arrived. "

As this is an isolated user, I assume this is some setting messed up on their computer.

Does enabling the 'Automatically configure profile based on AD primary SMTP address' automatically set the ZeroConfigExchange to 1?

We have the 'Auto configure profile ...' option enabled in Outlook 2013 GPO, and there was no registry settings added for ZeroConfigExchange.

However when user received the GPO - the zeroconfigexchange in registry key is set to 1.

Not sure how the zeroconfigexchange setting come from. Unless enabling autodiscover auto set zeconfigexchange to 1?

Situation:

updates to Office 2013 Pro are failing with a code of 80070658. This just started. I "Googled" the code and tried the remedies to no avail.

I can open and use the entire Office 2013 Pro suite of apps.

So, I decided to repair and/or un-install Office 2013 and then re-install it.

On repair, I get error of setup cannot find Office64.en-is\Office64MUI.xml

On remove, I get "Microsoft Office Pro Plus 2013 uninstall did not complete successfully"

On enter product key, I entered the key I used for the first install and it did not complete successfully.

How can I manually remove office 2013 Pro since the current "setup" program sees an install and does not seem able to remove it.

I get the following error when exporting from SharePoint 2013 to Excel 2013:

"Initialization of the data source failed. Check the database server or contact your database administrator. Make sure the external database is still available, and then try the operation again. If you see this message again, create a new data source to connect to the database."

My machine has Power Query (Version: 2.27.4163.242) and Microsoft Project Pro 2016, too.

We've uninstalled and reinstalled office twice. Each time the functionality returns for a while and I can download from SharePoint to Excel. However, it starts failing again after a certain period of time.

What's causing this to fail? Is there a permanent fix out there?

I have a question related to Excel Click2Run in combination with OData sources. I posted this question on the Project Online forum  (because the source is Project Online related). But the issue seems to be closely related to the version of Excel that I am running.

We are trying to get the **Pen inking tools** to work in Office 2013. I understand they are for tablet use however we are running normal non-touchscreen-laptops with Windows 7 and our teachers want to use these tools in the classroom where they are connected to interactive data projectors, as their tool of choice for annotating Word files in front of the students as part of the class, as well as would like to be able to use these tools at their desktop (using a mouse) to practice and become familiar with them.

We can add the Pen tools ribbon toolbar to the Word ribbon menu no problem. It is just all greyed out.

For the life of me I CANNOT get these tools to activate. They are greyed out and it seems they are VERY intentionally locked down - because EVERYTHING I have done to try to get around it fails. I cannot understand why it is so locked down, what harm does it do to allow non-touch-screen/tablet users to use these tools if they have a use for them? Anyway, I digress.

The ONLY way I have seen this working is if we install SMART Notebook v10.8 (or around there). At that point Windows reports (under the "Computer, Properties" screen) that the computer has "pen and touch input available with 80 touchpoints. Great. EXCEPT that we are SMART Notebook software users and have upgraded to v14 and when we do that it no longer reports such but instead "No pen or pen touch input is available for this display" (i.e. SMART has changed their drivers and stuff) and the Office 2013 pens are now disabled (all greyed out). On a normal desktop with no SMART Notebook ever installed the Pen inking tools are also greyed out so it appears this is a standard Office 2013 action for non-touch/ non-tablet devices.

So I have tried getting the registry settings set for Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Tablet PC - Value: DeviceKind:00000001 and IsTabletPC: 00000002. This works and Windows 7 then reports a "touch device with one touch point" but no change with Office 2013 pen tools - they remain greyed out. I don’t know what other registry settings to set here, perhaps setting to “80 touch points” would work but I suspect not and gave up with that.

We need to get those tools working in Office 2013 – either by unlocking the function from Office 2013 itself or by fooling it into thinking Windows 7 is attached to a tablet when it is not or whatever it needs to be fooled into believing so the Pen tools are unlocked. Surely there is some registry setting we can do for this?

We have Visio 2013 std 64bit installed in our Citrix XenApp enviroment, but when users go into Visio 2013 > New they only see the "Basic Diagram" and "Blank Diagram" template.  

Shouldn't they see many more to choose from?  I think Visio is locked down so it can.t get to the internet so I'm not sure if that is the issue, any ideas?

I can see the values after running the query. But when I connect the Pivot Table to the database, cannot retrieved but "Air Freight" and "Other".

Is it possible to tweak the built-in Outlook 2013 settings for slow and disabled add-ins?

For example I understand the threshold to disable Start-up add-ins is an average load time of 1000 milliseconds or more? Can this be changed to for example 2000 via registry or other?

Or alternatively, is there anything I can do to disable this whole add-in "start up load speed check" entirely or for a specific add-in only permanently?

Problem is one of our custom VSTO add-ins sporadically gets disabled for some users on Outlook startup. We want to avoid contentiously having to re enable it manually on individual clients, it causes frustration and it makes our custom add-in in look bad. Increasing the load time of Outlook is a very small price to pay.

Please no responses along the lines of "Go to File, Info, Slow and Disabled Add-ins and enable your add-in."

The "Let's get started" dialog pops open every time an Office program is started, for every user who logs in, even though it is already activated.

This is a domain machine with Windows 10 Pro 64-bit and Office 2016 Standard volume license version installed, and was successfully activated via a MAK key. How can I keep the wizard from running for all users?

The machine is a new ThinkPad, that originally had a trial version of Office 2016 on it. I uninstalled that via the Control Panel, as well as uninstalling the Get Office app from the Start menu, before rebooting and installing the volume license edition. A second new ThinkPad, prepared the same way, shows the same symptom. However, on legacy Win10 machines I do not see the issue after installing the same Office 2016 version and activating them.

Any suggestions as to how I can get rid of the "try-buy-activate" prompt at startup?

I am using publisher 2013 to print 5X7 cards. I recently replaced my printer, now using LJ Pro M277 dw.

The photo image on the front of my card is discoloured (to purple and Blue) in the bottom 1.5 inches of the picture and the recycled paper symbol on the back of the card is printing blue rather than green.

These documents used to print fine on my old laserjet printer.

Can anyone help?

The fire wall is off

The Antivirus is off

There is no GPO that affects this PC

I tried removing source adding source and version I do not get why this wont load for me

I'm looking for a way to set reminder within OneNote 2013. The reminders should popup on the mobile phones we use in our familiy: Android and Iphone or be sent by mail when due.

Please advise.
