Office 2013 - Incorrect Icons In Taskbar When Apps Running

Hi,

I have a a strange issue relating to Office 2013 (all apps in suite) in our school based Windows 7 domain environment.

When students login and run any app from the office suite they launch correctly and are able to be used.  However the icon that is displayed in the task bar for say, Word, is not that of Word but is the icon for Database Compare 2013.  Powerpoint as another example always displays the Publisher icon.  If you right click the icon the options available also refer to the incorrect app, so instead of an option to bring the Powerpoint app to the forefront it says Publisher.

The incorrect icon is always the same one for each app whenever launched and is the same for all users.

We have updated Windows and the Office to the latest patches.  Possibly worth noting that we are running this config on Apple iMacs using bootcamped Windows 7 but I don't personally believe this has any bearing as it's only Office related.I have search for instances of this issue and see there is a hotfix for incorrect icons when in a remote session rather than physically logged onto a machine.  I also see references to deleting the icon cache for the user but local user profiles are scrapped on the machines here when the student logs off.

Any help or pointers are greatly appreciated.

Outlook 2013 Won't Display My Archived Mail PST Files

Hi there,

I have recently upgraded to Outlook 2013 from 2010. I have archived mail in PST files going back many years. I managed to open the first one I tried (Outlook 2003 archive) but noticed it wouldn't display sent items on a common search. I then clicked on the name bar to sort by name and it did do it. Later when I went back in it wouldn't display any sent items; it just has the "thinking" dots moving at the top. I left it for 3 hours but nothing. I then closed the archive and moved the PST file to my C drive and tried again; nothing. I opened another PST file but still nothing shows.

Does anyone know what could be causing this? I'm thinking of going back to Outlook 2010 but would rather get 2013 to work properly.

Can Send emails, But Not Receive

Hello,

  I use Windows 8.1  I've been able to send/receive emails as well as use my calendar for my live.com account using Outlook 2013 for awhile.  Recently it stopped being able to receive, but I've noticed it can still send them.  I also noticed the Modern Mail App can also send messages, but can not receive.  I have removed the account in outlook & then added back again, same problem again.  It is strange.  I also have an Outlook.com account that I sync using the Outlook client & it has no problems.  I can go online to Outlook.com & use it to send/receive emails just fine.

This is the main account I use on my Windows 8.1.  I use Word & OneNote on this account & they work perfectly.  I still regularly sync OneNote with no issues, so the account is connecting...Partially?

Any Ideas?

Edit: I wanted to mention that my Windows 8 phone can send and receive message just fine.

Problems with Outlook 2013 and IMAP synchronization

Hi, I have been having problems with Outlook 2013 and synchronization of IMAP folders. When I open Outlook it works fine for 15-20 minutes and then Send/Receive for some of the IMAP accounts gets stuck. The task “Synchronizing subscribed folders for …” stays with “Processing” forever and never completes.

Subsequent Send/Receive actions do not retrieve new emails. I have to manually cancel the task that is stuck and then be able to receive new emails.

This behavior happened quite randomly, I haven’t been able to identify a pattern but it makes Outlook 2013 useless because I have to constantly check if the Send/Receive is stuck. I tried deleting and recreating my email accounts but this did not fix the problem.

Another odd behavior I am seeing is the Sync log issues. Again quite randomly Outlook 2013 will start synchronizing a folder and this will continue indefinitely. Within an hour the Sync Issues folder will get thousands of entries like this one:

13:15:07 Synchronizer Version 15.0.rup
13:15:07 Synchronizing Mailbox '…'
13:15:08 Synchronizing server changes in folder 'IvanL'
13:15:09 Done

It seems as if Outlook goes into a loop. After a restart it works fine for some time and then the above problems start happening again.

Outlook 2013, Adressing Window will not OK

I'm using Outlook 2013 on Windows 7 Professional

When trying to set the default address list I am unable to select okay.

Outlook 2013 ==> Address Book ==> Tools ==> Options ... ==> When opening... changed to my iCloud or personal mailbox ==> OK does not respond, but is not greyed out.

So far I've tried:

Rebooting

Disabling All Add-Ins

Formatting and reinstalling windows and office

My principle account is just a POP3, but I have my contact through iCloud

Converting OST

It seems I need to convert my OST file to PST file in order to gain access.

I cant import og anything like that...

Using Outlook 2013 - POP/IMAP, not Exchange account

Have tried several software, thouhg most are only Outlook 2010.

Any ideas???

error 0x5004010f while trying to Send\Recieve and "No Connection" shared calendars

Good Day everyone,

A user in my organization work with Outlook 2013 and is experiencing an issue: When he attempts to manually update his mailbox, he gets the attached error pic - Error 0x5004010f. In my search to find and eliminate this error, i only found 1 trustworthy result that suggested it might have something to do with the local copy of GAL in his Laptop. I downloaded a new copy and that didnt work, i went to the OAB path and deleted that file and downloaded it again, still with no success. 

I even tried to recreate his profile. Nothing.

Even though he gets this error, he can send and recieve with no problem.

That's his first problem. His second one is he cant open 2 shared calendars which he has permissions on (See same attached pic). He gets a "No Connection" line next to each calendar.

Not sure if relevant but we used to be 2 different companies, and we recently migrated together. So my user is from the other company and the calendars he tries to see belong to 2 users from my company.

Changing to a theme with color in Office 2013?

Please...PLEASE...someone tell me there is a way to change the Office 2013 RTM themes beyond just a grey-scale look. All I can see is "White", "Light Grey", and "Dark Grey"...which is equivalent to "Stormtrooper White", Stormtrooper Light Grey", and "Stormtrooper Dark Grey". Did the Adams Family design the Office 2013...because everything looks like a flat-styled death theme compared to Office 2010. I'm quite literally getting eye-strain from it. I can see a headache coming on if I try to use this all day.

Is there some option I'm missing, some third-party add-on, a registry tweak...or ANYTHING that will add a blue, tan, or any other splash of real color to Office 2013? Also, is there some way to add some depth to the slider bars? Everything looks so flat....and dead. I'm working with these tools all day long...and it's like I'm living in a Twilight Zone episode. I feel depressed after using Office 2013.

Outlook 2013 Not Responding

I have just upgraded from Office 2010 to Office 2013 Professional.

Outlook was working for 2 days, and now it becomes unresponsive.  If I try and restart, it gets to Loading Profile, and then Processing.....

this happens for ages. 
I am able to start in Safe Mode and work fine.

I have removed disabled all ad-ons but still not working

we have exchange server 2010

Excel 2013 stalling at splash screen for files in use by others

Excel 2013 is stalling (and not opening) when trying to open a file that is in use by another user. In office 2010 it would prompt the user to open in read-only mode, but in 2013 it seems to just stall and never open. It just stays on the splash screen for ever. We have done some testing and it appears that double clicking on an excel file causes this to occur, but will function correctly if the file is opened through excel's file browser.  Any suggestions on how to fix this?  It's a pain to make all the users open excel first, then browse through a lengthy network location.  Thanks in advance!

For information purposes: these are files on a network location shared by many users.

Sync issues between iPhone 5 and Outlook 2013 through iTunes

For at least 6 months I have been using a W8 laptop with Outlook 2013, and I've flawlessly been able to sync my iPhone 5 through a tethered connection to iTunes.  Two weeks ago, I lost the ability to update my Outlook calendar to the iPhone as new calendar entries were not making it through the iTunes sync process for some reason.  Contacts, notes, and bookmarks still sync perfectly, but calendar entries have stopped updating.  I've recently installed regular updates to the iPhone IOS, iTunes, Windows, and Office so something in the mix has caused my calendar sync to cease.  I have reverted my iPhone back to default settings and re-installed my user information, I've run scanpst on my Outlook file, and nothing has worked so I am searching for answers.

Receiving a task from Outlook 2010, and 2013 cutting in half.

When I receive a task , on outlook 2010, 2013, the task comes cutting in half. I can not read the task. I have to ask who sent me what was the task, and setup one by myself. I tried to create a new profile, in other machine, and the same thing happened. I'm the only one with this problem. I need a solution. Thanks!!!

Outlook 2013 Client stripping body from received email.

This seems to be an increasing problem.

I have Outlook 2013 on a notebook running windows 8 (This also happened on Outlook 2010 and Win 7).  We have a very old linux email server receiving email through a Barracuda spam firewall.

An email with no attachments was sent out.  The recipient replied.  The email received by my outlook client has no body.

This same email is complete with body on a thunderbird client, in my mail log and on webmail access on my email server.  My Outlook client is stripping the body.  I have disabled Antivirus (I do not have AVG), I have tried in safe mode and I have changed my profile with no success.

If I had to guess, I would say Outlook is killing the body due to some security setting that I can't find or do not have access to.  Does anyone have any new ideas on this?

Can't locate Outlook 2013 pst file

I am trying to migrate from a windows 7 computer running Windows Live Mail to a Windows 8 computer running Outlook 2013.  I've given up on any practical way to do it, so have loaded outlook 2013 on the Win 7 computer and synced all the emails so that I ahve the folders etc all set up as I usually have them.  I have now tranferred the .ost files for my 2 accounts to the Win 8 computer and it has begun syncing again, but it does not have my file structure.  I have searched the entire hard drive of the Windows 7 computer and cannot fin a .pst file for either of these accounts.

I have now tried to export a pst file from Outlook 2013 in the file name that the pst file should be but it gets most of the way through and then says, "The operation failed.  The messaging interfaces have returned an unknown error. If the problem persists restart Outlook".  I have restarted Outlook which makes no difference. 

I don't have any rules etc on my pst files I just purely want my sent items history and my emails in their correct storage folders rather than 4 years of emails in my inbox. 

Can anyone help please... I don't haev time to be messing about with this.

Get 365 users with all licenses

I am looking for a script that can output all my office 365 users and then tell me which licenses they have assigned to each of them. For example something like below. It doesent have to be in that format. I have been looking but all I have seen is scripts like this: Get-MsolUser | where-Object { $_.isLicensed -eq "TRUE" } UserPrincipalName, DisplayName, Country, Department | Export-Csv C:\testdoc.csv But all this does is show me the users that are licensed in 365.

I have duplicate emails when I do a search for a sender and also in the "Tasks" section of my outlook.

is there any way of stopping these duplicates.

Gmail folder "All Mail" is not showing up in Outlook 2013 using IMAP

For some reason the "All Mail" folder is not showing up in Outlook. 

I tried deleting and adding the account but no luck, also tried it with another account and same problem. Every folder (Inbox, Sent, Bin, Spam and all Labels) show up but no "All Mail". 

Anyone else had this problem?  I have version 15.0.4420.1017 64Bbit.

Can't find the link to submit a bug also..
