Excel 2013 freezes,hangs

Hi,

One of our Accounts team member's Excel freezes,hangs ( freezes suddenly when he is in middle of something) and has to close excel and reopen it. Cursor moves but few areas of the excel freezes and cannot click anything on the excel sheet.

Did anyone face this type of issue. Please suggest.

Is there a way to put performance counters on excel and see what is going on ?

SharePoint Workspace 2010 still installed after upgrade to Office 2013

I'm working on a deployment of Office 2013 in a corporate environment.  Using the OCT, I've customized a package which is working well on machines that don't have previous version of Office installed.  However, many of the existing machines currently have Office 2010.  After executing the Office 2013 package, we're noticing that while the upgrade works, SharePoint Workspace 2010 and the Office 2010 Tools still exist in the Start -> Programs menu.  I also see Office 2010 in Add/Remove programs (along with the new Office 2013).  The OCT is specifically set to uninstall previous editions of Office during the upgrade (which is the default behavior).

I'll seen a couple of other posts like this on the forum, but unfortunately no answers.  How can I *completely* uninstall Office 2010 (including SharePoint Workspace 2010 and the Office 2010 tools) during the upgrade to Office 2013?  This corporation doesn't need SharePoint Workspace 2010; my guess is that it was included by default with the Office 2010 package that they rolled out in the past.

Excel 2013 will not open file using double click

I have a problem with Excel 2013  running on Windows 7 Pro (64). When double clicking an Excel file from Windows Explorer  Excel launches but opens a blank worksheet and shows me an error message (german: sinngemäß: "die Weitergabe eines anderen Programms ist gescheitert"). The only way to view the document is by opening Excel and browsing to the saved file.

I have read similar forum entries which address this problem in older versions of Excel. I have tried every solution but none of them worked.

I already added the registry setting for shell open and set the Ignore Other Applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) (unchcked).

The problem still persists. When I first installed Office 2013 it all worked fine. I believe the problem occured after installing Project 2013, but I am not quite sure about that. Reinstalling Excel did not help.

I´d appreciate any help,

Can Send emails, But Not Receive

Hello,

  I use Windows 8.1  I've been able to send/receive emails as well as use my calendar for my live.com account using Outlook 2013 for awhile.  Recently it stopped being able to receive, but I've noticed it can still send them.  I also noticed the Modern Mail App can also send messages, but can not receive.  I have removed the account in outlook & then added back again, same problem again.  It is strange.  I also have an Outlook.com account that I sync using the Outlook client & it has no problems.  I can go online to Outlook.com & use it to send/receive emails just fine.

This is the main account I use on my Windows 8.1.  I use Word & OneNote on this account & they work perfectly.  I still regularly sync OneNote with no issues, so the account is connecting...Partially?

Any Ideas?

Edit: I wanted to mention that my Windows 8 phone can send and receive message just fine.


Opening a conversation doesn't show the last sent message, but the received message before it

Hi. 
If I open a conversation in which the last message is a message SENT by me, the view defaults not to the last [sent] message, but the last received message. It simply skips the last sent message which it should display (because it is the latest correspondence in the conversation), and rather jumps to view the last received message; and then I have to click the last sent message to see it. 

In other words, when I click on a conversation I do not want Outlook to view the last RECEIVED message, but the actual last message, whether it is received or sent. 

How to do that ?

I have just installed Office 2013 and I find it absolutely depressing. The only colours you can choose from are white and grey. SURELY Microsoft allows other more lively colours. Is there any way to change this? It's actually a big issue for me.

Outlook 2013 OST to PST conversion

Hi All,

Is there any API that  will allow us to convert Outlook 2013's OST to PST format using .Net? 

We can convert Outlook 2010 OST to PST but the same process doesn't work in Outlook 2013. Will it work or get corrupted if we replace the header with the old version of the files?

Cannot download Microsoft Office Professional Plus after e-mail verification

After verifying my e-mail to download Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013 from the TechNet site, I get redirected to a website that begins with wwwstaging.dns.microsoft.com, but I get the standard error page. My TLS and SSL protocols are enabled.

I never get the download option for the evaluation of this software. Any help on resolving this issue? Thanks!

Office 2013 - Cannot Open or Save Network or Shared Files

Yesterday morning I noticed that I was unable to open any files on our network drive with Office 2013 (SP1). This applies to all Office applications I've tested (Word, Excel, Powerpoint). When I attempt to open a file that is not locally stored, the splash screen comes up and sits for 3-5 seconds. It then disappears and immediately reappears, then the home screen opens (with no document). Using "Open" within an Office program does the same thing. No errors appear.

I was able to successfully open a file stored locally, but was not able to "Save" to a network location. The document immediately closed and brought me to the Word home screen. My network connection is solid. All other applications function and I have checked permissions. I've rebooted and reinstalled Office 2013 with no effect.

Any help would be appreciated.

Quick Explore Icon Doesn't Appear When Cell Selected in PivotTable

Hello!

I am a student taking a spreadsheet class right now so I'm not totally sure about these features. But, here's the breakdown of my issue. Oh, I am using a free trial of Office 365 ProPlus right now.

Textbook tells me to open the PowerPivot window and click Manage. From there, I get external data from an Access database. Once that is done, it says to insert a PivotTable on a new worksheet and then drag certain fields to the Columns/Rows/Values sections. All of this works great for me.

Now, it tells me to click a certain cell and click the Quick Explore icon at the bottom right corner of the cell (much like the Quick Analysis button does). However, it doesn't matter what cell I click, the quick explore button does not appear. At all. I tried to bypass it and go to drill down in the Analyze tab, but the drill down and drill up buttons are inactive and shaded.

I have no idea why this is happening and I have retraced my steps several times to make sure I am not missing anything. I though maybe there's an option that has to be enabled for that, but from what I can tell, it's just standard. Any suggestions?

Cannot paste any online pictures from any websites into word/powerpoint/onenote 2013

I cannot paste any pictures/ images copied from any websites into word, powerpoint and onenote.

Now, i am so stressful because this strange problem occurs with both versions of Microsoft Office (2010 and 2013). I had updated the Microsoft Office from 2010 to 2013 with the hope that this problem will be solved in 2013 version but I was so disappointed. I was so addicted to onenote and cannot live without onenote. In the past, I always used onenote to store countless handmade-creating articles and so many other information found on websites and other resources by simply copying (Ctrl + C) and pasting (Ctrl + V) them into onenote without any problems.

This strange problem has occurred and resisted approximate 2 months. Now I am almost going insane. I am longing for help, any help from the online community. Please!

I will describe the problem in more details.

-My laptop was Asus N550JV, and it was installed only one operating system: Window 8 single language by manufacturer. Nothing such as virtual machine or multiple operating systems in this laptop.

-This problem occurred with all websites, not only with a certain website or a specific website.

-It occurred with all of my latest-updated web-browsers, including firefox, internet explorer (which was pre-installed by factory in my window 8), opera, safari, chrome.

-Despite of using whatever web-browsers listed above, although the whole articles (text and pictures) on these websites were copied, however there was only text pasted successfully, excluding pictures.

-Pictures/ images were not pasted together with text. The onenote/word/powerpoint only shows a blank space where the picture should be in. If I click on this blank space, a frame will appear covering this blank space inside, and the url address of this picture was shown. Thedrawing tools tab appeared instead of picture tools tab. I guessed the pasted pictures were considered as drawing objects, not as pictures.

-After many unsuccessful attempts to solve this problem in Microsoft Office, some days ago I decided to install Open Office of Apache in the same laptop in order to make a control test between the two programs. I was successfully in copying and pasting text and pictures on many websites (using whatever web-browsers I am having) into text document of Open Office without any problems. Pasting pictures and text from websites into Open Office was successful, so that what the hell was happened with my Microsoft Office?

-If I download or save the pictures found on websites to my laptop then using theinsert picture function to insert these pictures into word/ppt/onenote, these pictures were inserted successfully without any problems.

-Copying and pasting text and pictures from old articles stored in onenote to a newly created word document were successful without any problems. Copying and pasting text and pictures between word and word, onenote and onenote were successful without any problems.

-It was concluded that this problem only occurred with online pictures pasted from websites, while inserting or pasting the downloaded pictures were successful without any problems.

-My internet connection was not disrupted during copying and pasting processes.

-My Canon laser printer only recognized and printed the text lines, there were only blank spaces in the places where the pictures should be in.

During two months since having this problem, I have searched so many times in order to find a solution. All of solutions listed behind I already found on internet and tried them all but nothing worked! This problem still resisted in Microsoft Office 2013 and now I am so sad and tired because of it.

List of solutions I found and tried but nothing worked:

-Right-clicking then choose "paste option: keep source formatting and choose set as default paste option"

-On theView tab of the Ribbon or on the status bar, choosePrint Layout view, not Draft view.

-Go toOffice Button | Word Options | Advanced: Show document content and make sure thatShow drawings and text boxes on screen is checked and that Show picture placeholders is not checked.

-Go toOffice Button | Word Options | Display: Printing options and make sure thatPrint drawings created in Wordis checked.

-On theHome tab of the Ribbon, locate theParagraph group and click the dialog launcher arrow in the bottom right corner to open theParagraph dialog; in that dialog, make sure that line spacing of the paragraph the picture is in is not set to anExact value.

-Paste the picture and immediately pressCtrl+Shift+F9 to unlink it. The picture will then be embedded in your document.

-If you find that Word hangs when you try to paste, you can instead selectEdit | Paste Special and choose Device-independent Bitmap instead of the default of HTML format.-> I could not try this solution because my paste special options only had three choices: unformatted text, html format, unformatted unicode text.

-Select File, Options, Advanced, then underCut, Copy, Paste section set "insert/paste picture as: tight/ inline with text/ through/ square/ top and bottom/ in front of text/ behind text -> I have tried all choices but nothing worked.

-Rename the Normal.dot or Normal.dotm global template file: run cmd.exe and typeren %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates\Normal.dotm OldNormal.dotm. Then typeexit, and then press Enter. Or go to C:\Users\Home\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates to rename the Normal.dot/ Normal.dotm file manually.

-Turn off the "Use draft quality" option:ClickFile, and then click Options. Click Advanced, Under Print, click to clear the Use draft quality check box. Click OK.

-Change the view to:Print Layout/ Full Screen Reading/ Web Layout/ Print PreviewFor Word 2010-2013: Click File, and then click Print.

-Check the box forPrint background colors and images at File | Options | Display: Printing options.

-Check the box forShow background colors and images in Print Layout view at File | Options | Advanced: Show document content.

-Using repairing function to repair the Microsoft office 2013.

Nothing worked! I have no clue of what have been happened with my Microsoft Office! Please help!

Outlook- Calendar issue

When I am in my shared calendar and try to add appointments to attorneys calendars a message comes up stating I do have permission and or file has been deleted. The file hasn't been deleted because all the shared calendars are there and shows appointments made by other inter office personnel. I am the only one whose computer will not allow to make appointments. How do I fix this?

Office 2013 is much too bright & white - even if you select "dark grey" as the theme colour!!!

Can the programmers please give us more to choose form with regards to the themes in Office 2013? I cannot stand it any longer... The user interface is horrible as it is too white & bright especially if you've been working on Office for hours... Please give us more theme options than white/grey/ dark grey to choose from. I like most of the other improvements, but I still prefer Office 2010 due to this bad colour theme of Office 2013... Did you overspend in having us choose little flowers/shapes/forms in the top left corner and had no money left to develop the other aspects of the user interface???

Very Slow to save Office 2013 files (Excel/Word) to a network share

I have an issue with a customer's system whereby they experience problems with saving either a Word or Excel file to another workstation on the network.

The network share is located on a Windows7 Pro x64 machine. The problem can be seen on a machine that's running Windows 8.1 Pro X64 along with Office 2013. When the user attempts to save the document back to the network share, there's a very long delay (sometime around a minute) before the save completes.

I've tried turning off indexing of off-line files (via indexing options) and also declaring the network location as a trusted location (via the Trust Centre settings from within Excel & Word).

If I simulate the same, but with a local file (eg loaded/saved to the Desktop) then there's no delay, so I conclude that it's something related to the process of saving data to the network share.

The normal copy speed across the network, and between these 2 machines, is very fast. It's only when running Word/Excel that  the problem manifests itself.

Any pointers would be gratefully received!

MS Office Words and Excel 2013 Frequent Crash

A few of my users are facing this one particular problem. In an event if any of the Excel or Words document they are working on stops responding or crashes. After restarting Words or Excel,

  • they are unable to open more than 1 words or excel document. If they do It will crash or stop responding.
  • opening a blank document will cause Words or Excel to stop responding.
  • trying to reopen the crashed document on the left panel "Recently Recovered Documents" Will cause Word or Excel to stop responding again.

Tried to run Repair MS Office 2013 but does not seem to work. Only Short term working solution is to remove and re-install back again MS Office 2013.

Every time a Document crashes, The above problem repeats over and over again until Office is removed and re-installed again.

Is anyone facing this problem ?

Office Small Business Premium 365 - Setting up multiple Exchange accounts

Can we set up multiple Exchange accounts on a single Outlook profile using Outlook 2013 (365 Full App)?  We have an email subscription to O365, and we have another email account that's hosted with GoDaddy that's an Exchange account.  I think it's possible, but I'm being advised that it isn't reliable (or that it can't work).  I found this TechNet article that seems like itshould work: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee815819(v=office.15).aspx   However, I don't have OCT with O365 Small Business Premium, so I don't know how else to do this...

Any suggestions/advise?  Thank you!

Office won't open network files

As of last week when I open a file, for example .xlsx, Excel will open but only to the default start screen displaying recent documents and templates. If i try again excel will shut down and reopen to the start screen.

If I move the file to my local machine It will one without a problem.

I have reinstalled office, then repaired it (via control panel >> programs and features >> change) using both repair options.

At the same time this first happened "office document cache" played up and jammed my machine (multiple instances of the programme continually opening). I seem to have fixed this by "repairing" office (uninstall/reinstall of Office didn't work).

I have win 8.1 the network server is win 7 with a homegroup and 3-5 members.

Excel data refresh fails on 2013 but works on 2007

Hello,

I have an old Excel 2007 workbook which has a connection to an external data source (SQL Server). I find that when I refresh this data source from within an Excel 2007 instance it takes a long time, but it does refresh. However, if I open the exact same workbook in Excel 2013 ProPlus (32 bit) then it fails with "Excel cannot complete this task with available resources.".

Both instances of Excel are running on Windows 7 Enterprise PCs (not laptops) with 4GB RAM and a similar amount of other apps running.

I've tried selecting File > Options > Advanced > Disable hardware graphics acceleration but this does not resolve the problem.

Why would the older 2007 instance be successful and the newer 2013 instance bail out?
