Office 2010 .oft Template mails in Office 2013 (textual changes not seen in e-mail sent from template)

Hello there,

Our company recently migrated to Office 2013. There are several departments which use between 50-100 template mails each. All of them have been made a while ago in Office 2003 and 2010.

Now when we try to send one of the template mails (.oft files), any textual changes made in the mail before sending are not shown in the sent mail. The sent mail only contains exactly what was in the .oft template file.

This was not the case before. Normally (as templates are supposed to work) a user opens up a template, types in additional text/information and sends the mail. Any text that was typed in the mail additionally shows up in the sent mail (as expected).

After a lot of fiddling around and trying tons of settings, we found out that the following actions would make the .oft file act normal again:

- Open the .oft file

- Change the message format from HTML to Plain text and back to HTML

- Redo any Font/cosmetic changes to the template

- Save the template mail as .oft again (you can just overwrite the original file).

So after doing this, my question is...what changes inside the .oft file which makes the file behave normal again? Is this a known issue? Is there a conversion tool (if needed)? If there is no easy way to do this, that would mean around 400 template mails would have to be manually processed in the aforementioned manner before they can be used again..

Thanks in advance for any help!
