Migrating from Windows Live Mail 2012 to Outlook 2013

Hello,

I am currently using Windows Live Mail 2012 for my Hotmail account (as well my Comcast account and one other personal account). I recently received an automated email notice from Microsoft indicating that I will be unable to receive email sent to my Outlook.com account (I assume this means my 'Hotmail' account) in the Windows Live Mail 2012 application by the end of June once the account upgrades begin.

Since I'm using Windows 10, they recommend using the Mail app in Windows. When I tried using the mail app 6 months ago for Hotmail when I first purchased my PC, I did not like it as I could not easily manage my email, i.e. sort by 'subject', etc. Maybe there have been upgrades to mail app since that time where the interface is similar to Outlook or Windows Live Mail?

Another recommendation in the email notification is to use Outlook. I have Outlook 2013 already on my PC which is currently only used for my company email (via Exchange). My questions are - if I use this same Outlook 2013 for my Hotmail account, Comcast account and one additional account:

- are all of the email accounts separate? I assume the answer is 'yes'?
- will any of the folders be shared? To explain, if I send a Hotmail email, will that email go to the 'Sent Items' folder along with my company emails?

I guess my main concern is keeping my personal accounts completely separate (folders, etc) and making sure that none of my personal emails are going through the company mail server(s), etc.

Hopefully this makes sense?

still transition problems with PowerPoint 2019

I have been working with a slide presentation with music and timed transitions.  I am using PowerPoint 2019, and when I show the presentation on three different computers, the transitions occur at three different times.  It seems to me like 5 seconds should be 5 seconds on every computer.  What is happening that causes this to not work?

Dimension and file size limit for profile pic in Office 365?

For Office 365 users, it allows you to upload a photo via Outlook or Lync to display as your picture with all your messages.  I've read conflicting things online about what the ideal dimension and file size for the picture must be.  Does anyone know what the current, official Microsoft recommendation is?

PowerPoint Online - Custom Fonts

Hi Microsoft/other viewers,

I am currently using PowerPoint online on my Chromebook, and I happen to have a Fixedsys font stored in my Chromebook. PowerPoint Online happens to not include Fixedsys, which is exactly what I need to use for a YouTube video project I'm doing. If this is Microsoft reading this, can you please add a custom font function? Or if you can't, maybe can you add in Fixedsys?

Controlling Office 2013 updates on click-to-run installations

For most of our users, we are running Office 2013. As it turns out, this is a mixed bag of 'standard' installs and click-to-run. Unless I am mistaken, my understanding is that click-to-run will not update via WSUS. I see that there is a way to control updates for 2016 via SCCM. Can the 2013 updates also be applied via the 'Office 365 client management' node of SCCM? The license type used WAS ProPlus, however, we are currently moving mail to exchange online and the new licenses are for O365 Business Premium. Any insight into this would be greatly appreciated.

Greeting

My users are attempting to us a new feature in MS project. In order for them to have this new feature I need to get them into the monthly update channel.

I ran the follwoing commands

1. Launch a Command Prompt as an Administrator.
2. Navigate to “C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\ClickToRun”
3. To change your setting type: “OfficeC2RClient.exe /changesetting Channel=Current”
4. To implement the change and start the Channel switch process, run “OfficeC2RClient.exe /update user” from the same path. This will initiate office updates download based on the channel you are switching to.

and got my system and 3 of my 5 users to update, but 2 remained in the semi annual channel.

I tried these

  1. Identify the channel which you would like to switch to. Features and updates by channel are documented 
  2. Launch Command Prompt as an administrator.
  3. Navigate to “C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\ClickToRun\”
  4. Run the following command to change the desired channel, let’s say Monthly Channel Targeted “OfficeC2RClient.exe /changesetting Channel=Insiders

or if you want to switch to the Montly channel:

OfficeC2RClient.exe /changesetting Channel=Monthly

Note – You can use this command to switch to any channel using the corresponding Channel keyword listed below:

ChannelKeyword in CMD or ODT
  Monthly Channel (Targeted)  Channel=”Insiders” or Channel=”FirstReleaseCurrent
  Monthly Channel  Channel=”Monthly” or Channel=”Current
  Semi-annual Channel (Targeted)  Channel=”Targeted” or Channel=”FirstReleaseDeferred
  Semi-annual Channel

  Channel=”Broad” or Channel=”Deferred

and made a BAT file but still these users will not change channels,

I have tried in an admin enabled CMD and as a admin no change,

What else can i do to get these users to the monthly channel?

What happens to existing licensing after account name changes?

We currently have deployed Office 365 Pro Plus to about 300 users. Our O365 tenant name (let's call it ourtenant.org) is different from our on-premise AD name because we don't own our domain name. (We're part of a local government and the county IT group owns the root, ourdomain.com. We're an agency and our domain is agency.ourdomain.com.)

We're synching users to our tenant and their logins are username@ourdomain.onmicrosoft.com. That's how our users are licensed for O365.

To help us better use O365, we are getting ready to add a new UPN to our AD. The new UPN will be @ourtenant.org. We want to also make sure that the user names arefirstname.lastname@ourtenant.org as well.

I'm concerned what will happen to the existing users who are licensed for O365 Pro Plus. Will the name change force them to re-register Office on their systems? Or will Azure AD know that the synced object is the same as the old one but it just has a different UPN.

How to collorbrate with on Premise office and exchange 2013

Hi, 

Currently we an on premise shop for Microsoft  OFfice 2013. 

Some of our users are asking for a google  doc type collaboration.

Dont want to go to Google Docs. 

I know microsoft has office 365 and that will work great for collaboration but that would mean to ditch our on premise structure. 

My question is there a way we can make on use of our on premise office to collaborate? 

help would be appreciated

I have three more question.

First question: For example, Microsoft release 3 updates every month. If we select current channel then every month we will receive 3 updates from microsoft.

If we will choose deferred channel then after 6 months we will receive 18 updates?

Second question:  I know to change deferred channel to current channel but how we can choose or use deferred channel targeted?

Third question: What is mean by streaming updates. According to my knowledge streaming word is use for audio or video file. Why this word is using in office 365?

Hi,

Issue  is Outlook and Pivot Tables crashing in Excel

    • When the user tries to do a pivot table in Excel it spins forever and stops responding,
    • User works out of her OneDrive but we also tried copying a file to desktop and had the same result.
    • Tried upgrading all apps as well as all Dell driver updates
    • Uninstalled Office 2013 32 bit and installed Office 2013 64 bit
    • Tried an upgrade to 16GB memory from 8GB
    • Reinstalled Operating system that was running Win7 with Win10 and Office 2016 (O365 click to run)

    Can't open word or excel documents on mapped network drive using Office 2013

    Hi,

    If I try to open a word document using a mapped drive e.g "Z", Word goes to the select template page. No error message is displayed. No MS Office event is created when the file fails to open. 

    I can open the file locally from the desktop.

    I can open the file using the network address e.g. \\MYBOOKLIVE.

    \\MYBOOKLIVE is a trusted location in Word 2013 and "Allowed Trusted Locations on my network is checked".

    How do I open the file using the mapped drive?

    Can't open a File Open Dialog box using Infopath 2013

    All users in a specific OU are unable to open a File Open Dialog box using Infopath 2013. When users try to attach a file to a form nothing happens. When users try to open a file by clicking File, Open users get an error that Infopath was unable to open file, operation failed. Any thoughts as to what the problem is?

    Outlook templates forms drops when forwarded from iPhone users

    Anyone know of a solution for this issue.

    We use an 2013 outlook template form to fill out a request which is sent to another person for approval.  However, when the approval is forwarded with the template form, only the message body is received. For some reason, the template form is dropped off along the way. This only happens when the person forwarding the form is using an iPhone or iPad.

    Everytime multiple Excel spreadsheets are open we keep getting the error message saying:

    There isn't enough memory to complete this action. 

    Try using less data or closing other applications.

    To increase memory availability, consider:

    - Using a 64-bit version of Microsoft Excel.

    - Adding memory to your device

    I have tried to increase the memory to 8GB and re-installed to 64-bit version but the application keeps doing the same thing. It freezes occasionally, blank screen appears. 

    What can i do to resolve this?

    In Word, I created a table with 3 columns and as many rows until it overflows to the next page. Then, I insert a list in a row of the table in the next page. Next, I added a textbox. I then change the wrapping to In Line with Text.

    The issue is, when I click the textbox, the border disappears and moves to the top-left of the page. The text in the textbox still remain at the same place.

    I'm using Microsoft Word for Office 365 MSO (16.0.11029.20045) 32-bit and my OS is Windows 10 Pro 64-bit.

    In Hunspell, affixes can be used in a dic file. How the affix works is defined in an aff file. Is there any similar functionality in an Office dic file? If so, where is the documentation?

    Black Block on the daily task list in Outlook 2013 and Outlook 2016

    We use the daily task list all the time and drag and drop tasks into the next days to re-prioritize our work.  Since I upgraded to 2013 (and it also happens in 2016) a black block appears on the daily task list and I am unable to see any of the tasks. The block seems to "jump" between days but is on today's tasks most of the time.  Anyone knows how to solve this? 

    Convert to PDF - Publishing online & Printing

    I have 2013 MS Office & for PPT to PDF conversion, to convert PDF of the doc in Export>Create PDF>Publishcommand available in MS Office.

    Pls confirm, in this Publish option, it is showing, “Publishing online & printing”. So, if I use this option, I believe it will not go to online, but only convert to pdf.

    If it published in Online, How to retrive/Delete it in online??
