The licenses are on user-basis or on device-basis?

Excel 365 Business – Data source with relative address alternatively using parameters

$

As start I want to say that I am using a Swedish Excel, so some naming may be wrong in my quick translation…

I’m collecting data and create statistics from several Excel files stored in Share Point. As the files are stored on Share Point and several of them have the same name, I collect them to a local folder set each time I want to have updated statistics.

I have my own main Statistic Workbook file at the same level as the folders with fetched files holding the latest data.   I have used the fetch data from Workbook to get them into my own workbook to keep all my formulas more stable.

My problem starts now when I want to move the folder to let someone (or several more) people update and handle this statistic.
(These people might be using Excel 2013... good to know if new issues might arise by that)

The source path to the files I use are absolute. When getting in to the advanced settings you can split the path, and it says that it shall be possible to use parameters…. But I can not find any way to get out the value from my parameter, it is always the parameter I see in the resulting path…

I found that I can use this to get my main file path:

Formula in Swedish Excel

=VÄNSTER(CELL("filnamn");HITTA("[";CELL("filnamn"))-1)

English non Europe

=LEFT(CELL("filename"),FIND("[",CELL("filename"))-1)

English Europe

=LEFT(CELL("filename");FIND("[";CELL("filename"))-1)

I have given the parameter ‘Path’ this value, but as written before, I can not get the value out from this parameter I only see the parameter name...

Don't see any apps when logging in to o365 portal

Hello All,

I get this when I log into my portal : This is your Office 365 home page—where you can see and access all of your Office 365 apps. If it's empty, it could be that your user license was very recently assigned to you. Wait 10 minutes and refresh this page. If you still don't see any apps, contact your IT department. They can help you get up and running.

It has been this way for two days, is this a license issue?

Thanks,

Office 2016 Activation dialog appears every time an Office app starts

$

The "Let's get started" dialog pops open every time an Office program is started, for every user who logs in, even though it is already activated.

This is a domain machine with Windows 10 Pro 64-bit and Office 2016 Standard volume license version installed, and was successfully activated via a MAK key. How can I keep the wizard from running for all users?

The machine is a new ThinkPad, that originally had a trial version of Office 2016 on it. I uninstalled that via the Control Panel, as well as uninstalling the Get Office app from the Start menu, before rebooting and installing the volume license edition. A second new ThinkPad, prepared the same way, shows the same symptom. However, on legacy Win10 machines I do not see the issue after installing the same Office 2016 version and activating them.

Any suggestions as to how I can get rid of the "try-buy-activate" prompt at startup?

Thanks...

ODT O365ProPlus Install Error 30088-1021

$

All,

I have been trying to install O365ProPlus with ODT.  I am able to download with no issues.  The install is kicking my butt.  I have gone through several forum posts trying to pinpoint this issue.  So far I have had no luck.  Here is what I currently have.

 Download XML

<Configuration><Add SourcePath="\\server\Software\Microsoft Office 365 Pro Plus" OfficeClientEdition="64" Channel="Monthly"><Product ID="O365ProPlusRetail"><Language ID="en-us" /></Product></Add><Display Level="None" AcceptEULA="TRUE" /></Configuration>

Install.bat

xcopy "%~DP0*.*" C:\Windows\Temp\O365ProPlus /E /I /Y

C:\Windows\Temp\O365ProPlus\setup.exe /CONFIGURE InstallConfig.xml

rmdir C:\Windows\Temp\O365ProPlus /S /Q

InstallConfig.xml

<Configuration><Add SourcePath="C:\Windows\Temp\O365ProPlus" OfficeClientEdition="64"><Product ID="O365ProPlusRetail"><Language ID="en-us" /></Product></Add><Logging Name="Office.log" Path="C:\Temp" Level="Standard" /></Configuration>

The error shows before the install even starts logging, so I have no way of troubleshooting unless there is another log file somewhere.

Any help is appreciated.

Word and Excel won't connect a printer that works with everything else incuding Outlook (all 2013 RTM)

The title says it all really.  Suddenly I can't print to one of my network printers from Word, Powerpoint or Excel, but can from Outlook, Access or Publisher, or in fact any other non-Office program.  The printer shows as ready in the list until I try to select it, then says unable to connect.  Clicking "connect to printer" says "Word could not connect to HPLaserjet".  Need a fast answer on this or I will have to revert to 2010.  I have tried a repair on Office, and rebooted the PC, made no difference.   I am running Office pro Plus 2013 15.0.4454.1004 32 bit on a fully patched Win 7 Pro 64 bit, 16GB RAM, 82% free.  Another network printer works perfectly happily, and it makes no difference whether it is the default printer or not.  Can't think of any other information to supply.

Excel (There isn't enough memory to complete this action)

Hi,

Everytime multiple Excel spreadsheets are open we keep getting the error message saying:

There isn't enough memory to complete this action.

Try using less data or closing other applications.

To increase memory availability, consider:

- Using a 64-bit version of Microsoft Excel.

- Adding memory to your device

I have tried to increase the memory to 8GB and re-installed to 64-bit version but the application keeps doing the same thing. It freezes occasionally, blank screen appears.

What can i do to resolve this?

Two days ago, I noticed that all the appointments I set up on my Outlook Calendar (Windows 8.1 Computer App) is missing.

How can I get my appointments back?

Problems 365 switching between offline and online

$

I work as a consultant with my laptop on customers Wifi or a 2G/3G/4G connection or if nothing else works offline. I use 365 with files on OneDrive. My laptop stays on and logged in for days just going in sleep mode at night or short daytime intervals. During the day I switch often between working online and offline.

I experience some irritating things:

- Outlook sometimes doesn't seem to know anymore that I'm offline. If I search my e-mail folder, Outlook tries to search online and only after 3-5 seconds shows a link that forces Outlook to search locally. If I don't use the link it waits for a online connection for a very long time. I don't know if it would ever time-out.

- Every file dat I open from my OneDrive folder when I'm online is opened online. It seems to me that in that case the reference used to access te file is not the local drive path but a networkreference. If I switch to offline while editing, it starts giving errors and I even risk loosing my data. I even cannot do Save As to my local OneDrive share anymore and I am forced to save it somewhere else.

Also the reference to the file in my history does not work when I'm offline if it is created while being online.

This is not te behaviour that I expect. Is this a design flaw or can I avoid this in any another way?

Tell Office to not use "OfficeFileCache" - RDS Server Quota problem

Hi everyone,

i have set up an remote desktop server for external users to access SharePoint.

They have Office 2013 Prof Plus installed without ODFB. For some users the OfficeFileCache grows everytime beyond limits (2GB) so that the user cannot save anything anymore or open Outlook Attachments.

Can i stop Office 2013 using this folder? The server is at the same location as the SharePoint server. So caching is not necessary.

2012R2 server showing Office 2013 updates when it doesn't exist

Hello,

We have a Windows 2012R2 server that users remote onto using Citrix (like terminal server), the server has Office 365, but also Visio 2013 as we need this, it did use to have Office 2013 installed but we removed this and this screen below was clean.  The thing when we run the Windows Update tool it shows this, as you can see the Office 2013 is on there still.:

If I run the install it completes in seconds as I guess there is nothing to install.

If I run the updates again it shows it needs all the updates again, so I go round in circles.

Please advise how I can clean this up without uninstalling everything again.

Thanks

Timing of powerpoint slide transitions is not working well

Hi Guys,

A few months ago George Zhao replied to a post about transition timing issues in PowerPoint 2016 – see https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/1c6e2ac3-5193-40a9-973c-45fe2a44bd1c/powerpoint-2016-timing-problems?forum=Office2016ITPro. I have experienced the same issue in PowerPoint 2013 – set transition timing either manually or through “rehearse timing” and when I play the presentation  the times are off, i.e. the slides transition too late – sometimes a second, sometimes more. This happens on a Lenovo T450 with Windows 10. That same presentation on a different computer (Windows 8.1) with PowerPoint 2010 works fine.

Others have noticed the same issue -http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2013_release-powerpoint/powerpoint-slide-timing-problem/66ec52c5-72fd-4137-8b4b-db844243faf3?page=4 .

Has anyone experienced this? Is there an open bug or better yet, a known fix?

Regards,

Noam
