I am using Windows 8.1 Pro w/Media Center. I have downloaded Office Pro Plus x86 more than a dozen times. I get it from the official TechNet site, though it takes nearly 4 hours to download and almost all downloads fail. The downloads that do finish (or at least claim to be finished) will not mount, not in Windows 8 (which does not give a mount option when right clicking the file), not in Daemon Tools nor will it open in ImgBurn (an oft recommended program for burning these files). I have triedeveryfix I could find on this site and none address the problem I'm having at all, except one that talks about verifying that the download was not corrupted, but gave no indication how that might be accomplished. The download does not seem to be corrupted as the times that the file has become corrupted during download, an error message informed me that the file may be corrupted, the rest just give the error that the file is not mountable. I really need a couple of the programs in Office, those being Word and Publisher, the rest I have never used and never expect to use. I wanted to try Office 2013 to see if it was as God-awful as Windows 8, before buying Word and Publisher 2013 or finding a copy of Word and Publisher 2010 (which I like). But, if I can't install it, I certainly can't try it and if I can't try it I certainlywill not be buying any more Microsoft products, as they are taking far too much of my time to attempt to evaluate and are nearly useless when I get them. Does Microsoft have a clue that they are pushing consumers like me to start using Apple?!?
