Office 2013 Pro Plus won't install - log file included

Hi,

I've freshly built a Windows 8.1 Pro laptop and attempted to install Office Pro Plus 2013. It bombs out at the end of the install, reverses the install and the GUI reports:

Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013 encountered an error during setup

Outlook 2013 and missing Attachment icon

In the Sent Items (IMAP) folder, the attachment icon (i.e. the paper-clip) does not appear in the Attachment column for saved e-mails that have attachments. This is not a problem for other folders though. Any ideas?

Apps for Office, Outlook 2013 Button

Hi I'm totally stuck on being able to successfully gray-out the Apps for Office button within Outlook 2013.  Can this be done?  Any experience or advice for this would be very appreciated.  The button is located on the upper-right when creating a new message.  So far we've enabled "Block Apps for Office" and "Block the Office Store" within a GPO,  but users still see it, can click on it and can manage their apps.  Has anyone had any luck with this or perhaps this is done on the Server, becuase currently it's taking us to OWA where we have the option to disable things like Bing Maps etc...

It's just very difficult to find any dicumentation on this.  Thanks.


User cannot drag email out of outlook and save to desktop

User gets the following error;

Error Copying File or Folder

The process cannot access the file because another process has locked a portion of the file.

To note; outlook 2013 64, windows 7 pro 64 sp1, running a windows server 2012 with redirected folders.

offline files is configured.

No entry seemingly in event viewer?

* to note they can open the email then save as to desktop without issue

they can also drag and drop some emails, seems random.

attachments save without any issue.

New to Access - Query issue

Hi 

I am completely new to Access, but have been working through tutorials on Lynda.com. 

I have a table with 155 records (stock items). I have two other tables with stock quantities for items in the first table in two different warehouses. These three tables have a relationship. However, when I create a query, even with just two or three fields, the report that I get back does not show all 155 records, but just 33. 

I am sure this is something simple, but I just can't work it out. 

I hope someone can help me.

OneNote 2013 Unable to Copy and Paste

Since a recent update  of OneNote 2013 a couple of weeks ago, one of, what I believe to be most important feature of OneNote  does not work any longer.  Before the update I used to be able to go anywhere on my desktop, open any document, image etc, press simultaneously the Window button and S key, and then using the mouse to select any area I wanted copied.  Depending on the OneNote set up this would be either copied in the clipboard or you could copy in OneNote pages.  Now the Window plus S key combination does not work.  Instead I get a dialog box that OneNote has to be running (which of course is) followed by another dialog box  oneNote needs to be connected to the Internet (which of course I am as I can synchronize with other devices).  Any suggestions on how to overcome this si greatly appreciated.

Excel format 2013 with macro's can not be used in Office 365

Hi,

I'm have a problem with a Excel file with macro's which is working fine in Office 2013 but is not working on Office 365. I'm using Windows 7 and in Excel I already enabled all marco's without warning, but still I'm enable to click on the button's or checkboxes. In Designer Mode I've checked the format of the objects and I've noticed the existing checkboxes formats are not there.

- Right click on button / checkbox / Format control => No tab with properties / All Text and Control

If I'm creating a new checkbox for example in this Excel sheet the format options are in the format control screen:

- Right click on button / checkbox / Format control => 3 tabs with properties / All Text and Control

Seems like the Office 365 is not recognize the button's and checkboxes made in Office 2013? Could anyone advise me to solve this problem?

Closing an email window bug

I like to close open email messages by double clicking the small envelope in the upper left hand corner just above the "File" tab. A single click brings up options for restore, move, size, minimize, maximize, close. Close is the default option on a double click. I used this all the time in outlook 2010. The issue I'm having in outlook 2013 SP1(all other updates too) is if the email message window is maximized and my main outlook window is maximized and I double click the envelope to close the email window, it closes the email and simulates I've click a third time. This causes the menu for restore, move, minimize, etc to pop up on the main outlook window. The screenshot is showing my main outlook window. So it appears I've clicked to bring up this window but I did not. I only double clicked on the email window. This function/operation worked fine in outlook 2010. It would close the email window and NOT bring up this menu on the main outlook window.

Office 2013 invisible windows

I have a strange problem that seems to be occurring randomly but regulary on my computer. It also seems to effect some of my collegues but not to the point it does for me.

The problem is that with my Office 2013 installation I will every once in a while get invisible windows for Office 2013 applications. This means that one or more of my open Office 2013 windows turns invisible and can not be accessed unless first minimized by right clicking the taskbar icon and then restored/maximized again. Then the window will turn normal again. A side effect of this is also that sometimes the invisible window is the top window making it impossible to click on whatever window seems to be on top (but actually is under the invisible window).

This applies to all applications in the Office 2013 installation, I have seen the bug for Word, Excel, Outlook (main window, open email conversations, etc), Powerpoint and Access.

The behaviour is similar to what is described in the following (but closed) thread for the preview version but I am using the latest version with the latest updates from Microsoft Update. The difference is that I do not see any connection to closed windows as described in this thread.

I am using Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013 (Swedish) but I also have Excel 2003/2007/2010 installed. I have never seen this for any of the earlier versions so this is something new for Office 2013.

Anyone have any solution to this?


Office 365 Outlook Alert Box Notification when an email arrive

Hi, 

I use office 365 Professional and i search if i can have a notification like a window to alert me because an email is coming in Outlook 365.

I searched if a plugin for Chrome, Mozilla or Explorer exist to do that but i found nothing to help me.

Missing functionality: edit heading name

It is necessary to edit heading names so that content flow is improved.

Currently, Microsoft Word provides only one method to change heading names, and that is to directly edit headings in the document content flow. But this does not provide a direct interaction with headings, as a distinct element in the content flow.

Two features of the Word program are potential candidates. The obvious choice in newer versions of Word, is the Navigation Pane (selection box in View tab). Very strangely, it is not possible to directly rename headings inside of the Navigation Pane.

Another feature (retroactively, available in all versions of Word) is the Insert Hyperlink dialog. Kindly refer to Figure One, above.

Both Navigation Pane and Insert Hyperlink promise users and users' Administration with a direct method to manage content flow.

Why is feature editing of document headings not implemented?

In previous versions, once I launched Outlook, it would automatically detect/passthrough my username and email address into the fields so that I could just click next and be done. In Outllok 2013 on Windows 2008 R2 this doesn't appear to be working even thought I am able to successfully resolve my autodiscover domain.

Windows 7 not overwriting old credentials for Office 365

Recently we migrated from an internal hosted exchange server to Office 365 hosted email. When a user is prompted to change their password with Outlook 2010 they continue to get the pop up for submitting their credentials and to select "remember my credentials". 

What appears to be happening is that under Control Panel > User Accounts > Credential Manager > Generic Credentials the old and new credentials are both there. If we delete the credentials and reopen Outlook and provide the correct credentials, they will take and the problem is solved. From what I have seen online is that this process is considered the 'best' way to handle this situation.

Am i missing an update, hot fix or something? It seems to be that Windows 7 is having a problem overwriting the original credentials that it has stored.

Change Color Scheme in Office 2013?

Hi All,

First let me apologize, I am of limited technical capability.  I just installed Office 365 (Feb 1, 2013) and found the really light color of the ribbon area to be highly distracting.  I was hoping I could get it back to the soft blue color I eventually got use to in Office 2010.  But I could only figure out how to get light gray or dark gray.  I am absolutely convinced these are not the only options Microsoft would build into the program (I mean who would intentionally do that?).  But as I say, I am limited in my capabilities.  Could someone tell me how to change the color scheme?

Changing to a theme with color in Office 2013?

Please...PLEASE...someone tell me there is a way to change the Office 2013 RTM themes beyond just a grey-scale look. All I can see is "White", "Light Grey", and "Dark Grey"...which is equivalent to "Stormtrooper White", Stormtrooper Light Grey", and "Stormtrooper Dark Grey". Did the Adams Family design the Office 2013...because everything looks like a flat-styled death theme compared to Office 2010. I'm quite literally getting eye-strain from it. I can see a headache coming on if I try to use this all day.

Is there some option I'm missing, some third-party add-on, a registry tweak...or ANYTHING that will add a blue, tan, or any other splash of real color to Office 2013? Also, is there some way to add some depth to the slider bars? Everything looks so flat....and dead. I'm working with these tools all day long...and it's like I'm living in a Twilight Zone episode. I feel depressed after using Office 2013.

MS EXCEL 2013 file takes long to open

I am using MS office under the account india.office.one@leanswift.com. I am trying to open a MS office file of minimum size of 30 kB and Maximum size of 480 KB , but it fails to open. I am able to open MS EXCEL and create a new file and open it but the files that is been sent via mail and saved in my local desktop is not opening at all.

Sync War between OneDrive & Office Upload Center

Just purchased Office 365 University.

Installed fine, everything is running.

However...

I use the OneDrive application which runs in the taskbar tray to keep all my documents synced, it worked perfectly. Since installing the new Office I now also have "Microsoft Office Upload Center" running in the tray.

When I open an existing OneDrive document in Word 2013, and click "Save", Word syncs it with the server. But then, OneDrive also tries to sync it and it causes a clash. OneDrive is telling me the document has been modified and causes sync errors. 

This is really starting to annoy me because whenever I make slight edits to any documents, both parties are trying to sync and I'm getting constant error messages popping up.

How on earth can I stop "Office Upload Center"?

As far as I can see there is no way of disabling it on startup, I'm running 8.1 Pro. I would much prefer to let OneDrive do the syncing on it's own. I do NOT want to have to uninstall or stop OneDrive from syncing.

Any help would be appreciated.
