Migrating auto text from a machine that was using Word 2003 to a a new PC using Office 2013

Hi

I am trying to migrate auto text data that was created in word 2003 to Word 2013, But so far have not been able to get it to work.

Have tried copying over the normal.dot file but that hasn't worked, Not sure how to convert it to a .dotm file extension which is used for office 2013. 

if we try to add the file as an add in template in word 2013 it comes up with a invalid error.

Any help would be great.
