Word 2013 can't handle shortcuts to templates

Hi,

If we put word templates within our configured template folder, we can create new docs from any of these templates as normal.

However, if we then create a shortcut to a template stored outside this folder structure, when users attempt to create a new doc from template, it actually opens the shortcut itself in word (ie it attempts to display the contents of the .lnk file).

Users still using office 2010 can select the shortcut and it will create a new doc based on the shortcut's target which is what you would expect to happen.

Has this been identified as a bug and does anyone know a workaround that will allow us to continue to use shortcuts rather than copying all the templates over?
