Sharepoint 2013 Document Managment

We are looking to use sharepoint 2013 for our document management . I wanted to ask if others have done this and if so  is it a good choice . We have 150 users that are uploading documents and we have found that they never delete old documents so we are thinking of putting in place a management system to do this for them and not use folders .  We are thinking we could have sharepoint 2013 purge old documents .

We are using Office 365 

Any books or training you would recommend ?
